Muzaffarnagar riots: SC asks UP govt to withdraw aid only to Muslim victims

Government agreed to withdraw notification that said aid will be given to each Muslim family.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to withdraw its notification for providing financial aid only to Muslim families affected by Muzaffarnagar communal riots.

The court asked the state government to withdraw the notification that mentions only a particular community and issue a fresh one saying all those affected will be granted financial aid.

In response,the UP government agreed to withdraw the notification that said Rs 5 lakh will be given to each Muslim family for rehabilitation and relocation to other places.
