I just wanted to go out and enjoy myself in the final round in the Hero Honda Indian Open and not think about the results. And things worked out just the way I wanted. Sure, there was a time when I looked up at the scoreboard after finishing and thought how close I was to making a real go at the big prize.
However, I am not complaining. A 66 on the final day and a third-place finishing was pretty satisfying. I was in the top-10 at the Pakistan Open at the start of the season and now this. This should set the stage for a good finish in the closing stages of the season with a few more big events to come.
Now to the champion, Jyoti Randhawa. He is by far the most consistent golfer India have produced. To win the Hero Honda Indian Open back to back and three times overall is, indeed, a great achievement. By now he must be thinking of rolling this course and taking it home, considering he has won on it so many times. He also took the Hero Honda Masters twice here.
On the final day, it was a treat to see him come up with stunning iron play and that eagle on the 16th still in his mind for a long time as it saw him win by three shots. There were so many Indians in the top-15 or so has once again proved that Indians are a major force to reckon with in Asian golf.
