All the hard work that St Xavier's School, Sector 44, had done till the dying minutes came to nothing as St Kabir School, Sector 26, recorded a stunning 34-29 win over them in the final just in a span of one minute to claim the ICSE Basketball Championship for girls at the St Kabir School courts on Tuesday. Naina sunk two quick baskets and helped her team towards the title win after the match was locked 27-all with only one minute left for the game.

Naina was the top scorer for her team with 11 points and undisputedly the hero of the day for her two quick points that steered her team to glory. Rupandeep and Shreya contributed seven and eight points, respectively, for the winners. Deep Kirat Kaur pocketed 11 points and Man Kanwar scored six points for last years' runners-up St Xaviers School.

Meanwhile, in the inaugural match of the Kabir Basketball Trophy, Little Flower Convent, Panchkula, got the better off St Joseph 18-6. Anubha of Little Flower scored 12 points. New Public School, Sector 18, will face Little Flower Convent, while St Anne takes on St Xavier's School in league matches. Other league matches will be played between Sacred Heart and Saupin School, and St Kabir and Delhi Public School, Pinjore.
