Nandi relieved of portfolios

Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’,Minister of Institutional Finance,Stamps and Registration,who was seriously injured in a bomb attack in Allahabad on July12,now becomes a minister without portfolio. Chief Minister Mayawati has allotted departments held by Nandi to Mines Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha.

Nandi,who is undergoing treatment at SGPGI here,had requested the Chief Minister that in the interest of the official work,he be relieved of the portfolios he is holding till he regains health.

Acting on the request,the Chief Minister recommended to the Governor that the departments held by Nandi be allotted to Kushwaha.

Nandi had conveyed the request to the Chief Minister through Cabinet Secretary Sashank Shekhar Singh and Kushwaha when they called on him at SGPGI on Thursday.
