‘Nano to be available sans advance booking from Aug’

World’s cheapest car,Tata Nano,will be available without advance booking from August this year,a senior company officer said.

“From this August-September,customers will be able to walk into our showroom and drive out in a Nano,” Manoj Arora,Senior Manager,Tata Motors said.

Arora said setting up of manufacturing facility at Sanand (Gujarat) will help the company deliver cars faster.

Nano,since its launch has 35,000 cars already running on Indian roads. “Sananad facility can manufacture 2.5 lakh units per annum,” he said.

Talking to reporters during the Tata Nano’s ‘Superdrive’ event that will have the cars traveling through length and breadth of the country,Arora said the company has “almost finished” the commitment made during the first lot of booking.

He said it is difficult to judge what type of customers prefer Nano as being the first time. There are many who already own car,he said.

“We will be now targeting the first-time car buyers during our campaign,” Arora said.

He said the car has proved best to the satisfaction of the customers and hence it is picking up very well in the market.

On the Superdrive event,he said Nanos were flagged off from Tata Motor Plant at Sanand on June 2.

“Nine Tata Nanos will cover three different routes during a 26-day-long voyage and will visit 36 cities,covering a distance of over 15,000 kilometres,” he said.
