“It's a coincidence that the BJP came to power at a time when some of you joined the party. It is like giving credit to somebody who hits the goal from the ‘D’ in a football or a hockey game. Unfortunately, the players who dribbled the ball along for a long time to bring it to the ‘D’ box do not get recognition at all”.
“Undertaking a development activity is not good governance by itself. All governments have to and will take up some development activity. What we have to emphasise is good governance”.
“Know your job thoroughly. Anticipate things and prepare an action plan. Do not allow yourselves to be misguided by vested interests.”
“Clarity of thought, meticulous and methodical action, simplicity and humility in conduct and behaviour — these are some of the qualities that will enhance the minister’s and thereby the government’s image”.
These are some of the nuggets of advice Chief Minister Narendra Modi is learnt to have offered to ministerial colleagues of his Karnataka counterpart B S Yeddyurappa during the three-day training session at Suttur, a temple town near Mysore.
The ministerial colleagues have been asked to show effective performance in a time-bound manner for meeting the high expectations of the people.
Apparently floored by such valuable advice, the Karnataka BJP has now decided to have such brainstorming sessions every six months, according to BJP spokesman C T Ravi.
“Such thinking is going on,” he said, however, adding that it is a bit too early to look for any results. “It will take at least two months for the result of the training to show,” he added.
