Police have arrest of two more persons in the Nari Niketan rape case,taking the total number of accused to nine,including two women. The Special Investigation Team of Chandigarh Police on Monday arrested Naresh Kumar (30) and Devinder Singh (24) for their alleged sexual exploitation of the mentally challenged girl at Ashreya.

Naresh,a driver at the Government Institute for Mentally Retarded Children in Sector 32,lived inside the Ashreya campus when he allegedly raped the girl. He is from Kalalpur village in Haryana,the police said. Devinder,on the other hand,was a ward attendant in Ashreya. He is from Uttrakhand.

The two were arrested on the basis of their identification by the victim and a witness’s testimony. Both had raped the victim on separate occasions,the police said. The two had confessed to the rape during the preliminary investigation,the team officials said.
