While Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was hailed by left parties and others for severing ties with BJP,CPI(ML) sought an explanation from the state government on the communal violence in Kandhamal which claimed 42 lives.
“Naveen cannot skip responsibility by snapping ties with the BJP. He must give an explanation as to what happened and what is happening in Kandhamal in the name of religion,” CPI (ML)Liberation General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said.
Stating that nothing was normal in Kandhamal even ten months after the violence broke out in the tribal dominated district,he that people were still in the relief camps because of the fear factor.
Seeking action against all those responsible for the riot, the CPI(ML) leader said that having ties with the BJP or not had no meaning for the people at large.
To a query on Maoist violence,Bhattacharya said his party was opposed to any kind of violence — be it by red rebels or terrorists.
