Sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday claimed of busting a huge drug racket with the arrest of a person from Sealdah railway station in Kolkata. The agency also seized a consignment of 360 kg of acetic anhydride, a banned chemical substance used in preparing heroin, which was stashed in six large milk containers. According to NCB officers who addressed mediapersons on Sunday, the man was arrested from Sealdah railway station last Tuesday as he came to collect the consignment sent through Ananya Express.

"It is a very big nexus, which is being run by some persons from Madhya Pradesh and their turnover could be to the tune of several crore of rupees," said a senior official of NCB.

We are trying to find out all the details of the earlier consignments and trying to locate others places to where the consignments are being supplied," the officer added.

The arrested person hails from Madhya Pradesh. In 2010 , the NCB had seized 12 kilogram of acetic anhydride. "We came to know that consignments were sent from Udaipur on two earlier occasions. We are investigating the whole issue and soon we would bust the gang," informed a senior NCB official.
