Post elections, the Nationalist Congress Party has a problem keeping its flock together in Maval and Shirur parliamentary constituencies. While leaders in these two constituencies are indulging in allegations and counter-allegations, the ordinary party worker seems confused.
The on-going rumbling has also put a question mark on whose writ will run in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
In the line of fire is Pimpri-Chinchwad NCP chief Azam Pansare who tasted defeat at the hands of his bete noire Laxman Jagtap in Chinchwad Assembly seat.
Now, corporator Shankar Jagtap, led by 20 members of the NCP, has submitted a letter to NCP leader Ajit Pawar seeking removal of Pansare as NCP local unit chief. Shankar Jagtap is younger brother of Laxman, who had been expelled from the party for contesting as a rebel.
Laxman, though out of NCP, wants to keep a tight grip on the party with the help of his mentor Ajit. Laxman is considered close to Ajit.
After Shankar demanded the ouster of Pansare, Laxman has now challenged Pansare to resign as corporator and contest from any ward. "Let him contest from any ward he wants to, I will ensure his defeat," he has said.
This outburst against Pansare has much to do with the alleged attempts made by the latter to defeat Laxman in Chinchwad in the recent polls, an allegation Pansare denies.
The Pansare camp, on the other hand, has been alleging that Jagtap and his supporters had worked against him during the Lok Sabha election leading to his defeat. "Not only did he make attempts to defeat me, but he also ensured that the Chinchwad seat went to Congress. They did not want me to contest from Chinchwad seat," he alleged.
