With other members of the opposition joining Goswami, Speaker Tanka Bahadur Rai had a difficult time bringing the situation under control. Rai said the issue of Subba’s citizenship was a subjudice matter and thus could not be raised or discussed in the state assembly. “The matter is pending in the Supreme Court while there is also a CBI inquiry going on,” Rai said.
At this point parliamentary affairs minister Bharat Chandra Narah to intervened and informed the House that the matter was subjudice apart from a CBI probe in process.
