Cheif Minister Prithviraj Chavan Wednesday said the National Defence Academy (NDA) will continue to get support of the state government and it will continue to take the academy to greater heights. He was addressing the gathering of cadets, officers and parents at the passing out of cadets of the 123 rd course of the NDA at Habibullah Hall.
"I feel honoured that NDA is in Maharashtra, in Pune district. The political leadership has always supported the Armed Forces in whatever they did. We are a powerful nation whose freedom is guaranteed by the Armed Forces and the role played by the NDA in creating our Armed Forces cannot be underestimated. Military is all about leadership and the values of leadership, courage, teamwork are all forged, honed here," Chavan said.
He also said how the new Defence Production Policy (DPP) will give a boost to the Indian defence manufacturing. A total of 313 cadets of the 123 rd course were awarded degrees at the convocation ceremony of the NDA on Wednesday.
While 90 cadets were awarded BA degrees, 77 were given BSc computer science and 146 were given BSc degrees. The Chief Minister awarded trophies and medals to the cadets who excelled in the three streams of the graduation programme. "The Commandant's silver medal and the Chief of the Army staff (COAS) trophy for the cadet standing first in Science stream was awarded to Cadet Atmakumar S Bhat. Commandant's silver medal and Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Trophy for the cadet standing first in Social Science Stream was awarded to Battalion Cadet Captain Bhojpal Shakya. Commandant's silver medal and Chief of Naval Staff Trophy for cadet standing first in the Computer Science stream were awarded to Cadet Pramod Singh. Battalion Cadet Captain Bhojpal Shakya was also awarded the Admirals Trophy for standing first in the order of merit," a press release said.
