NDFB bandh affects life an Assam

A day-long Assam bandh sponsored by the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland on Wednesday affected normal life in some parts of the state.

A day-long Assam bandh sponsored by the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on Wednesday affected normal life in some parts of the state.

Official sources said the bandh was total in the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Council (BTAC) — Kokrajhar,Chirang,Baksa and Udalguri and in the Bodo-dominated areas of Sonitpur distract.

The bandh was called by the NDFB tn protest against alleged “fake encounters” by security forces.

Shops and business establishments remained closed and there was no vehicular traffic on the highways.

The bandh did not have any impact in the areas lying on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra and Barak valley.

There was no untoward incident during the bandh period but in stepped up operation by security forces,two NDFB ultras were killed and several arms and ammunition recovered during the day.
