Neighbour attempts to rape two-year-old girl in Gurgaon

The Gurgaon police have registered a case against a man who allegedly tried to rape a two-year-old girl after luring her to his house in Dundahera village on Tuesday morning.

The village falls under the Udyog Vihar police station. The man is the neighbour of the victim's family. The girl was alone at home around 10 am. She was playing in the balcony.

The man spotted her and lured her by offering chocolates and took her to his rented accommodation. He tried to rape her in his flat. Police said that the victim's cries alerted neighbours and they raised an alarm. On hearing the commotion in the building, the man escaped.

Police maintained that a medical examination of toddler had been conducted, which had not confirmed rape. Although the police did not confirm it, sources said the girl was injured. Police said they were waiting for reports of "further examination" of the girl.

A team has been constituted to probe the case. The accused has been identified as a native of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh and he was living in Dundahera village for around two years.

"We have registered a case at the Udyog Vihar police station and formed different teams to nab the culprit. Udyog Vihar ACP Poonam Dalal will investigate the case. Further details will come up after the arrest of the culprit," DCP (West) Surinder Pal Singh said.

A case has been registered at Udyog Vihar police station under IPC Sections 376 and 511.
