Nepal crash kills 10 Indians

Eight Indians from Tiruchi,plane was on tourist flight around Mt Everest.

A Beechcraft 1900D turboprop aircraft on a popular tourist flight around Mount Everest crashed outside Kathmandu this morning,killing all 19 people on board. Among the dead were 10 Indians,eight of them builders from Tamil Nadu on holiday in Nepal.

Six Nepalese including the Buddha Air plane’s three-member crew,two Americans and a Japanese were killed.

The aircraft hit Kotdanda hill on the outskirts of the Nepalese capital at 7.31 am as it came in to land after an hourlong flight around Mount Everest and surrounding Himalayan peaks,police said. The aircraft was on fire before it hit the ground,police said,quoting eyewitnesses.

The Nepalese government has ordered an investigation into the crash. The bodies were flown in an army helicopter to Kathmandu.

The Indian mission released a list of the Indian victims: Pankaj Mehta and Chaya Mehta,and M Maruthachalam,M Manimaran,A K Krisunan,V M Kankasabesan,T Dhansekaran,Kattoor Mahalingam,R M Meenakshisundaram and K Thiyagarajan from Tamil Nadu.
