Nepal King loses eight palaces, his throne may be next

    The King, with a 239-year-old lineage behind him, may be losing a lot of floor space but he is presumably not losing sleep over where his next meal will come from. Gyanendra has stakes in business and industries and is estimated to have capital worth Rs (Nepalese) 1,300 crore. The Government’s budget for the royal household for last year was Rs 21.97 crore, which was slashed to Rs 12.50 crore this year.
