  • While China "covertly allowed" North Korea to test underground nuclear explosion and carry out missile trials, it was also "increasing its naval presence in South China Sea to coerce into submission those opposing its claim on the Sprately Islands," the defence expert said. He said it would be "unwise" at this point of time for a recession-hit China to move against the Western interests, including Japan. "Therefore, the most attractive option is to attack a soft target like India and forcibly occupy its territory in the Northeast," Verma said.

But India is "least prepared" on ground to face the Chinese threat, he says and asks a series of questions on how will India respond to repulse the Chinese game plan or whether Indian leadership would be able to "take the heat of war". "Is Indian military equipped to face the two-front wars by Beijing and Islamabad? Is the Indian civil administration geared to meet the internal security challenges that the external actors will sponsor simultaneously through their doctrine of unrestricted warfare? "The answers are an unequivocal 'no'. Pacifist India is not ready by a long shot either on the internal or the external front," the defence journal editor says.

In view of the "imminent threat" posed by China, "the quickest way to swing out of pacifism to a state of assertion is by injecting military thinking in the civil administration to build the sinews. That will enormously increase the deliverables on ground -- from Lalgarh to Tawang," he says.

Simple choice toi makeBy: Badabing | 25-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Until 1947, India never was unified as a country. It was the Land of Indi. That's why Nehru and Gandhi in their haste to cease power after WWII, fell into the British scheme of dividing it up into 3 countries. The disputed areas is part of Tibet Province, Tibet is part of China so there is no argument. India's claim is all based on greed and avarice and it will drain her clean. China will get it back one way or another, sooner or later. It is more important for India to have 50 years of uninterrupted growth to become a developed country and China more than any other country, can help India achieve that. 90,000 sq km of barren land, or 50 years of stability. The choice shouldn't be too tough. Given a choice the Tibetans and Indians living in those areas in dispute are much better off as Chinese citizens. The leverage China can exert on India is not just militarily but economically and ecologically with control over the water sources originating from within Chinese borders.

Responsibilities are towards the citizens of indiaBy: Nirmal Kumar SP | 16-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I Love INDIA.. Its much clear that soon China is going to attack us, china already surrounded us from three of sides, also pakistan is already on another side. Till now our poor politicians dosent know why the problem at Cape is not solved by srilanka, its real fact that already china army ruling srilanka towards their attck against India. Not in 2020year, even it is 3000 India will remain same developing nation with developed bribary politicians. You the citizens of India think twice or more, what kind of government we required, make you selection of government which saves us, not saving the money into the pockets of politicans. If we takeout al the black money from politicians we can be No.1 in army, navy. When it is going to happen, if India is destroyed by China, never it will turnup like JAPAN.. Its all in our hands....... JOIN YOUR HANDS... SAVE OUR INDIA... VANDHE MATHERAM JAI HIND
MrBy: tushar | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward China and its people must respect international borders....its become a joke...USA and UK fighting Jehad...on the other side China is planning to stand against them.
Oh my....By: Hongyi | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I don't know why you guys think like this...... I haven't heard any words in China that we would assault anybody... To be honest, even if there is a war, the goal is not to "invade". In Chinese philosophy, territorial completeness is very important. They(or we) may fight till the last man to protect our territorial. So the problem is about the territory but not "envy India". Dawang Area was an controversy area because there is no offcial demarcation between India and Chinese government. There was one but it's between England and Tibet(even at that time, Tebet was a federal state of the Qing(Last dynasty of China)). So the problem is: is it legal that a federal state could decide a deplomatic issue without approval of the federal government and is it legal that India inherit what England has with Tibet. We don't want to be enemy of anybody. We just want to end our 200 years of colonization. If there is no Dawang, we won't even have armies on our bordor!
