NEW ROLE

VIVEK Sahai,who retired as Chairman,Railway Board,in 2011,is set to join Mallikarjun Kharge’s team as an adviser. This is the first time a retired chairman will be coming back to join a minister’s team as an adviser. Sahai had worked under Mamata Banerjee as Railway Board chairman. According to officials,Sahai’s brief in his new capacity is to assist Kharge in steering big ticket projects.

COLD RESPONSE

INTELLIGENCE agencies seem to be cold to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde idea of probing Aam Aadmi Party’s source of funding. The Financial Intelligence Unit has told Intelligence Bureau officials it cannot help them look into the source of funding of AAP as its mandate is to track cases of terror financing and money laundering.

THE RULEBOOK

After asking all AICC office-bearers to furnish details of organisational activities in their areas to Rahul Gandhi by the 10th of every month,the Congress is now drawing up working manuals for them. The manual for AICC general secretaries,being prepared at Rahul’s behest,would delineate functions. Another manual had earlier been prepared for the Screening Committees set up to select candidates for the Assembly polls that laid down the roles of the members,like asking the general secretaries and secretaries not to suggest any candidates to the respective Pradesh Election Committees.
