Even though the academic session of schools affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) kicked off 15 days ago, books are yet to be made available. Teachers say they had been teaching general topics like grammar, composition, general mathematics, among other such subjects.
“Students of all government schools get books free of cost. Students of Class I to VIII get books through the Village Development Education Committee, while those from Class IX to XII get these books through the Social Welfare department. But none of them have been provided books till date,” said the headmistress of a government high school.
“Students do not buy books on their own as they know they will get them for free. But we face a lot of problem in teaching them,” an English teacher said.
Anil Sharma,Manager of District Depot of the PSEB in Mohali, said,”We have started receiving books from the contractor and will distribute them accordingly.
