While the pond was used for the wide shots of underwater sequences, Kapur's close ups were taken in a water tank. The actor recalls, "My face was supposed to be at a certain position in the frame but when I would get into the water, my legs would stretch upwards and thereby my face would go out of focus. So I asked somebody to hold me from the waist. Then I held the glass wall tightly and actually pulled myself down so that I could exactly fit into the frame.
