Newly elected MCD councillor faces 27 murder cases

Kishan Pahalwan,who has 27 murder cases against him and is currently lodged in Tihar jail,elected as MCD councillor in the national capital.

Kishan Pahalwan,who has 27 murder cases against him and is currently lodged in Tihar jail,was on Saturday elected as MCD councillor in the national capital,where the BJP bagged three of the five wards where bypolls were held.

Pahalwan contested the election as an independent from the Dichaun Kalan ward. The seat was vacated by his brother Bharat Singh,who was elected to the assembly.

BJP had nominated Sandeep Shokeen while Congress had given ticket to Padam Singh Dagar from the seat where bypolls were held along with four other municipal wards on Thursday and results of which were announced on Saturday.

The BJP has won in three wards while Congress could win only in one ward.

Devendra Kumar,Vijay Solanki and Mahendra Jain – the BJP candidates from Mayur Vihar phase-II,Hastsal,Anand Vihar respectively have won the elections.

Congress’ Deepak Chaudhry has won from Samaypur Badli seat.

Four of the seats that went to by-polls were vacated by councillors who were elected as MLAs while in Anand Vihar,the death of the sitting member necessitated the by-election.

Leader of BJP-ruled MCD Subhash Arya has congratulated people of the three wards for electing the party candidates.
