A silent protest was lodged by Global Alliance for Rights and Duties (GARD), an NGO, against cases of rapes being reported from Haryana. Over two dozen Dalit girls and women have been raped in the past one month. The organisation demanded that such crimes should be dealt with strictly. People from varied fields participated in the protest. To mark the silent demonstration, the participants wore black ribbons around their heads, hands and necks. NGO chief Davesh Moudgil and general secretary Jasjyot Singh Almast demanded that the Centre and Haryana government should take prompt action, and the accused to brought to book, immediately.
