Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, a non-government organisation working for inculcating moral values among students, has now decided to improve the deteriorating teacher-taught relationship.
Satnam Singh Sallopuri of the Directorate of Youth Services, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, said, “The pious relationship between teachers and students is losing its sheen now. To know the root cause of this, we have planned a workshop of school and college teachers on July 21 at our Model Town-based office. In this, teachers from more than 100 institutes will interact on this subject. This will help us in finding out the reasons behind it. On that basis, some suggestions will be given by the experts like the principal, Ram Singh, the chief organiser, Dr Surinderbir Singh, retired principal of Guru Nanak Engineering College, and Amarjit Kaur, district education officer (secondary) etc. We will circulate these suggestions to all the schools and colleges, so that a good relationship between teachers and students could be maintained.”
He said that a similar workshop would be held at Anandpur Sahib, Ropar, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur etc. Sallopuri said, “The educational atmosphere in majority of the colleges is also getting worst in the colleges these days. It seems as if the students have come to celebrate picnic and not come for studies. There is a need to mainitain some sense of discipline and decorum among students. We have established our units in many colleges and schools and are working for this cause also.”
The NGO, which has been working for inculcating moral values among children since 1978, also conducts moral education every years. Principal Ram Singh said, “This year the exam will be organized on August 20, in which about 60,000 students will participate.”
