Hindu-Sikh Jagriti Sena, a non-government organisation today urged the parents of the students studying in Kundan Vidya Mandir to boycott the school from tomorrow by not sending their wards to the school.
The NGO distributed pamphlets to the parents against fee-hike effected by the school and urged them to participate in the motorcycle rally to take place tomorrow near Jagraon bridge. Parveen Dang, president of Hindu-Sikh Jagriti Manch, said, “The aim behind this protest rally is to create awareness about the unjustified hike in fee effected by the schools and how the “school mafia” is burning hole in the pockets of ordinary people.”
Dang said,”The schools have increased the fee structure on the plea that they have to pay salaries to school teachers and staff in accordance with VIth pay commission recommendations. In Ludhiana city alone about 2.5 lakh children are studying in schools affiliated to CBSE, Delhi. The new fee structure is a heavy drain on the limited resources of the parents. This issue is also being ignored by the district administration. It is ironical that political parties are holding meetings with the people for their votes, but none is talking about this issue.”
He further said that Hindu-Sikh Jagriti Sena would fight for the justice and was ready to face hardships while pursuing for the objective.
Rakesh Jain, general Secretary of the Parents Association, Ludhiana, said, “The education has become a trade and people are earning a lot from it.”
He claimed that the parents would support the Hindu-Sikh Jagriti Manch in its struggle and would boycott both the branches of Kundan Vidya Mandir tomorrow by not sending their children to the schools.
