The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Modasa on Thursday to probe into the September 29,2008 blast near a mosque in Modasa, which had killed a 15-year-old boy and injured many others. The NIA team came to Modasa yesterday and has started investigating the blast case, Sabarkantha Superintendent of Police R B Brahmbhatt said, adding that the team has not yet contacted the local police. The NIA was handed over the probe after the Gujarat Police failed to make any headway in their investigation and the case was reported to have links with the Malegaon blasts. The Mumbai ATS,probing the Malegaon blasts involving a radical Hindu outfit, had pointed to parallels with the Modasa blast, including the vehicle used, the timing of the blast and the location. But Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed that the state police could not proceed with the case because the Mumbai ATS was not cooperating.
