The Bhiwani police booked seven people on Monday in connection with the suspected honour killing of a couple in Nimliwali village near here on Sunday. Among the seven accused are parents of the girl,Monika (18),who was hanged along with Rinku (22) after they were allegedly caught in a compromising position.

Police sources said the seven were booked on the basis of preliminary investigations.

The accused are Monika’s father Dalbir Singh and mother,uncle Sandeep and his wife,another uncle Kuldeep,a neighbour Birender and maternal uncle Satyaprakash. All of them have been at large since Sunday.

Monika (18) of Nimliwali and Rinku (22) of Manhera village were allegedly tortured before being killed.

A senior police officer said all seven would be arrested soon as a hunt had been launched to trace them. He said the bodies were handed over to their respective families after postmortem on Monday. While Rinku was cremated in Manhera,Monika’s last rites were performed at Nimliwali.
