Nishank orders CID probe in youth's encounter

  • According to the police, three motorcycle borne youth on being stopped a police sub inspector in the posh Dalanwala locality on Friday had beaten up the sub inspector and had fled with his service revolver. They had panicked on being approached by he police official since two of them were carrying country made fire arms.

    The Inspector General of Police (Garhwal Range) MA Ganapathy says,” The number of the motorcycle on which they had fled was flashed around and they were intercepted by the police on the ring road.” He said that on being intercepted, the three had tried to flee by firing at the police and one of them was killed in the exchange of fire. The remaining two had managed to flee from the spot.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Amit Sinha told The Indian Express,” Investigations have revealed that the motorbike that was recovered from the spot of the incident was a stolen one. It belongs to one Ram Mehr of Ahir village in Panipat in Haryana.”

    Meanwhile, the opposition Congress party has also demanded a CBI probe into the matter saying that there enough pointers to this being a case of a fake encounter.
