Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday denied allegations of the RSS and VHP that the NDA dispensation headed by him was pursuing a policy of Muslim appeasement and said he believed in the state’s all-round development.
Kumar said on the sidelines of his Janata Durbar that he believed in all-round development for which measures had been initiated to bring back the minorities, Dalits and economically backward castes to the mainstream of society.
VHP international general secretary Praveen Togadia and RSS leader Suresh Joshi on Sunday charged the Nitish Kumar government with pursuing Muslim appeasement policy.
The two leaders had alleged that Kumar provided land for opening a centre of Aligarh Muslim University at Katihar and went to the extent of providing scholarship to Muslim girl students whereas no such benefit was announced for Hindu girls.
“What is the harm if the government agreed to provide land for setting up a branch of the Aligharh Muslim University at Katihar?” Kumar asked.
