Nitish Kumar unfazed by protests

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today slammed the contractual teachers' and civil groups' protests on various demands and said, he was unfazed by the criticism from various quarters and doing his best to improve the socio-economic condition of the state.

"I am made of different mettle and unperturbed by ongoing protests by contractual teachers, students and various groups on one demand or another," Kumar said while addressing a function organised by the Central Bihar Chamber of Commerce

On the regularisation of services of contractual teachers, Kumar said, the resource crunch was still an issue with his government and despite impressive development during his tenure, he will consider the demand only when coffers were full.

The chief minister said, he was pressing the Centre to grant special status to Bihar that would ensure adequate funds for the state government, which could be used to give salaries to contractual teachers at par with regular teachers.

Referring to an automobile showroom set up by his arch rival and the RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's son in Aurangabad district, Kumar said, his detractors undertaking 'Parivartan Yatra' have set up shop to sell vehicles.

The chief minister inaugurated a three-day 'Bauddh Mahotsav' in the Kalchakra maidan, Bodh Gaya town and promised to put the state on the country's tourist map
