No arrests have been made in connection with the radiation contamination of a drinking water cooler at the nuclear power plant here,a top police official said on Thursday.
“We have not made any arrests in the case so far,” Inspector General of Police Gopal Hosur told reporters here.
“Detailed investigation is being carried out and I have instructed the district police officials to initiate necessary steps,” Hosur, who visited the plant earlier, said.
The probe into the leak incident is being supervised by Superintendent of Police,Uttara Kannada,Raman Gupta.
Gupta said “an FIR has been filed at Mallapur police station (Uttara Kannada district) only Wednesday. We need some time to carry out the investigation.”
An investigation team is probing last week’s incident in which around 50 employees working in the first maintenance unit of the plant were tested for increasing level of Tritium also known as Hydrogen-3 after they consumed water from the water cooler in the operating area on November 24.
