Samsung launched a 5-inch phablet device, Galaxy Grand, for Rs 21,500. It runs Android Jelly Bean and is a dual-SIM phone. Samsung says users will be able to receive calls on both SIM cards at the same time. This means if you are on a call on SIM 2, those who call you on SIM 1 will hear the "please wait message", instead of "not reachable".
The phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, which makes it useful for video calling. Galaxy Grand has a 1.2-GHz dual core processor and 1GB RAM. The internal memory is 8GB and it is expandable by 64 GB, via a microSD card. The device weighs 162 g.
The phone supports all the standard connectivity options and a good feature is that it is 4G-enabled. The company will be giving a free Flip Cover with the device as an introductory offer and users will also get 50 GB cloud storage on Dropbox.
The phone is a cheaper alternative to Samsung Galaxy Note II, which is available for around Rs 35,000.
