  • Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today urged the CBI and state anti-corruption officials to go “aggressively” after “high level corruption” to change the perception that “petty cases get tackled quickly but the big fish escape punishment”.

“Rapid, fair and accurate investigation of allegations of corruption in high places should remain your utmost priority. The nation expects you to act firmly, swiftly and without fear or favour. You have... constitutional protection... to do so,” Singh told officers from the CBI, Central Vigilance Commission and anti-corruption bureaus of all states and UTs at the inauguration of a two-day conference in the Capital.

The PM presented medals of outstanding service to 20 officers.

THE GREATEST P.M. INDIA EVER PRODUCED !!!!!!!!!By: sbala | 29-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward If MMS can coax the CBI to bring at least one CM to book before he demits office, he can be given the award of "The Greatest PM ever". Right from the days of P.S.Kairon and T.T.Krishnamachari to Lallu Prasad and M.Karunanidhi, all the cases filed by any agency has only fizzled out. If only MMS can bring in a legislation making it mandatory for all courts in the country to pronounce judgements within one year of filing a case and making it the responsibility of the enforcement authorities to give effect to the judgements within 15 days, then people will have faith in the judiciary and take courage to take to the courts without fear. If any complaint submitted in a prescribed form either physically or through e-mail is registered and the FIR is made an internal procedure, that will show the true level of the rule-or-law. Removing all discretionary powers of judges and the contempt of court procedures will ensure justice for all. CAN THE PM DO IT ???????
Protected 'big fish'!By: Kishore Karnad | 28-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward The P.M.'s words sound impressive but hardly anyone will give credence as we have often heard these empty threats. India's corrupt ministers and babus must be laughing at this pathetic roar. How will CBI catch 'big fish' like BUTASINGH who is openly flauting his 'cabinet status' while daring CBI to act against him. Unless such safetynet protecting the corrupt occupying high positions, no big fish will be caught and punished. Are Dr. Singh and his boss Sonia, the Czarina of India, ready to remove this protective cover to enable CBI to act? If not, isn't it better to shutup and stop fooling people with empty words? Let Dr. Singh start with Butasingh: strip him of his cabinet status, make him face CBI interrogation and clear his name or face prosecution.
Director Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni centre for Social Science Research Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni college 18th Cross Malleshwaram BangaloreBy: Dr Rekha Jagannath | 27-Aug-2009 Reply | Forward After such aimpressive election win it is certainly time to pursue this greatest monster roaring against our Democracy and Economy. Our currency is not readily accepted in rest of the world due to this bane.Quality at all levels of governance is sacrificed to feed corruption. Education system is topsy turvy and scare of the genuine because of it.All infrastructural work is suffering controlled by it.Dr Singh did initiate a bit of anti corruption drive in 1991 when when he introduced delicensing and other versions of it attacking the lion's den of corruption.Corruption in high cadres is the biggest crime against the Nation(Late eminent Economist who remains obscure, Dr Venkatagiri Gowda of Karnataka who did his best to fight corruption at all levels till last days often said "Corrupt at the top have to be hanged!").A significant proportion of GDP gain could be garnered if serious attempts are made. Hope it is a serious statement coming from our incorruptible PM!
