Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said the police are yet to identify the group behind Wednesday’s blast at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri that killed two and injured 13.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said the police are yet to identify the group behind Wednesday’s blast at Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri that killed two and injured 13.

The chief minister was making a statement in the state Assembly. Meanwhile, police sources said an intelligence branch team had already left for Bongaigaon in Assam to look for possible links of some Assam-based groups that might have joined hands with local outfits to carry out the blast that took place in the crowded Chowpatty market. A team of forensic officials also visited the blats site on Thursday and collected samples. IG (law and order) Raj Kanojia said the blast seemed to have been a handiwork of the KLO. “We are trying to ascertain whether the explosives accidentally went off or they were planted as part of a plan,” Kanojia said.
