  • Two unidentified persons on Thursday assaulted the son of an income tax inspector who was one of the officials engaged in the investigation into the hawala scam allegedly involving former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda.

The police said Abhisekh Majhi, son of I-T inspector A K Majhi, was returning home when the duo, apparently waiting for him, attacked him with stones near Chenab Road under Sakchi police station.

Even after Abhishek fell down, they continued to stone him and fled after snatching his mobile phone, the sources said.

Abhishek, who suffered head injuries, was admitted to Tata Main Hospital.

Asked to comment on the motive behind the attack, a senior police officer, however, said prima facie it did not appear to have any link with senior Majhi's involvement in the investigation against Koda.

NO LENIENCY TO KODABy: ROBINSON | 13-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward If he Koda's thugs are found to have done this, then the police should give similar treatment to Koda as well. There should be no let up in the porsecution of this robber. IT should not give up because true Indians are behind them.
