Congress has dismissed reports about removal of Saifuddin Soz as Jammu and Kashmir unit president and his appointment as Governor of some state.

Soz,who was Water Resources Minister in the previous UPA government and was left out in the new council of ministers,is likely to be given some important political assignment that will be equivalent to a Cabinet rank post.

“There is no move to remove him as PCC President,” a senior AICC leader said while commenting on reports that Soz would be replaced by Chowdhry Mohd Aslam who has been sulking over his omission from the state Council of Ministers.

The AICC leader also rubbished media reports which suggested that Soz would be appointed as Governor of some state.

The reports had emanated amid shadow war between Soz and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, that has been reflected in the veiled attacks by them at each other through the media.

The Congress High Command has taken serious note of the behaviour of Aslam, who has attacked Soz and Prithviraj Chavan,AICC in-charge of the party affairs of the state.

Aslam has also rejected the party’s offer of being made the Chairman of Gujjar Board.

The party High Command feels that the offer of Chairman of Gujjar Board was the maximum that could be given to him as the party wants to give chance to young leaders in the ministry.
