Ruling out political vendetta in Punjab, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday described the visit of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Maken to the state on Tuesday and his accusations against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP alliance Government that there was "blatant misuse" of police machinery as a "drama."

"Its a political stunt (visit of the central minister)...the Congress has no other issue to rake up in the state," the Chief Minister told reporters here after his attention was drawn towards "atrocities" on Congress workers in Punjab as was alleged by Maken.

Maken had slammed the Akali Dal-BJP government for "blatantly misusing" the state police machinery to settle political scores during his visit to Batala in Gurdaspur district and Amritsar.

The Congress minister had said despite repeated pleas by the Centre for speedy police reforms, the Punjab government was "only using the police to further its political agenda".

Maken had toured Punjab yesterday on the request of elected representatives and civil society organisations in light of complaints of alleged police atrocities.

"Its was a drama," Badal said referring to Maken's visit to the state and categorically ruled out political vendetta against opponents.

"I repeatedly say that give me a single example of vindictiveness against Congress MLAs, former ministers and their leaders," he said to make his contention stronger.

On being told that Maken will submit his report to the Prime Minister, Badal said "the PM is much more informed than what is going to be told to him."
