No season ticket renewal through ATVMs

The Central Railway has decided to hold back the renewal facility for season tickets through the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines.

The Central Railway (CR) has decided to hold back the renewal facility for season tickets through the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines. The facility was introduced on May 27 this year. According to Satyaprakash,Chief Commercial Manager,CR, the move was taken after CR received a complaint from a commuter who said that the print on his ticket had faded.

“We are talking to the German company which delivered the roll of ticket one and half years back to WR. Incidents like these happen due to bad quality of the paper roll. If the print on daily tickets fades it is okay but a season ticket is valid for minimum a month. The company will have to look into the problem.”

Meanwhile,to encourage commuters get tickets from ATVMs,CR has deployed NGOs at stations to help commuters.

At present there are 175 ATVMs at 35 stations of the main and harbour line of the Central Railway which are being relocated. Some 20,000 passengers book tickets through ATVMs daily.
