No solution to mealy bug, new Bt cotton variety next year

    He said the introduction of Bt cotton has made the country the second largest producer and third largest exporter of cotton. Bt brinjal would be introduced next year, while biotech varieties of okra, cabbage, cauliflower, chickpea, rice and pigeon pea were also in the pipeline, he added.

    bio product for mealy bug controlBy: DR.MURTAZA SHAIKH | 09-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward dear sir, it is well known fact that,Mealy Bug has become serious threat to Bt cotton in India inspite of adopting various control measures. In south India, the insect not only damaging Bt cottton, it also started attacking mainly sunflower, vegetables and fruit crops. To my surprise, I could able to trace out effective bio product developed and marketed by PASURA LIFE SCIENCE, HYDERABAD,AP, the product was evaluated by me at my farm, on many crops where mealy bug is infested. The results are verymuch intresting, I could observe 70-80% control on Ist spray by good drenching, and on second spray I could achive 90-100% control. The product is cost effective, given longer control. Now I am relived, at last there is a solutuion for mealy bug. I am sharing this information to my Bt cotton growing friends.
