No ‘specific’ terror inputs ahead of Independence Day: HM

Home Minister P Chidamabaram said there are no "specific" inputs about any possible terror attack in run up to the country's 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

Home Minister P Chidamabaram on Wednesday said there are no “specific” inputs about any possible terror attack in run up to the country’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

Asked if the government has any specific intelligence inputs suggesting possible terror attack in wake of Independence Day celebrations,the Minister said,”No specific inputs”.

Union Home Ministry had earlier this week asked all the states and Union Territories to maintain a tight vigil especially along the coastal areas of the country which may be used by Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba to infiltrate.

Intelligence reports indicated that besides the national capital,Kolkata and Hyderabad are on the hit list of LeT,sources said.

Besides threats from Pakistan-based terror outfits,a strict vigil has been asked to be maintained against possible attacks from Left wing terror groups and insurgents of Northeast.

The Intelligence input shared included an interrogation report of recently caught terrorists along the LoC who claimed that they had been tasked to meet some members of terror cells in these cities to carry out attacks ahead of Independence Day.
