  • In the Syndicate meeting held today at the Panjab University campus, it was found that none of the four candidates who had applied for the Rajiv Gandhi Chair at the university was suitable for the post. Vice-Chancellor Prof R C Sobti said in absence of a suitable candidate the chair will remain vacant and fresh advertisements will be issued. The chair is lying vacant since it was created in 2005.

It was also decided that teachers of the university and its affiliated colleges will have to check a minimum of 250 answersheets and those who refuse will have to give a specific reason.
