Even as the city has been constantly facing water cuts, the district administration claims that there is no water shortage in the rural areas of the district. During the monsoon season, the administration had to pool in extra tankers due to inadequate rainfall. But in the last two months, hardly any tankers were sent to rural areas.
According to tehsildar V K Gadankush, incharge of water supply to the rural areas, “For the last two months there has been no demand for water tankers and the reports coming from each taluka clearly shows that there is no water scarcity in these areas.”
He also said, there has been no demand for any job under the Employment Guarentee Scheme. “There has been no response over the last two months as a lot of sowing is happening and people got busy in the fields. So no one came forward for the EGS,” he said.
