Irked by continuous barking, a guard posted at BSNL office in Noida shot at a dog in the head. The incident occurred on October 31.

The guard, Rajan, posted at the BSNL office at D-7, Sector-7 of Noida had been appointed through a security agency.

According to an eyewitness, the dog was constantly barking at the guard. He tried to shoo it away and when it would not go, shot at it. “It was so sudden that the man could not believe that he did it,” said a police officer.

The passers-by called the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), whose members reached the spot promptly.

“The dog was taken to the SPCA hospital in Sector-92. After an hour-long operation, the bullet was removed from its head,” said a member of the SPCA. The animal’s condition is stable.

Following a complaint by Vineet Arora, a member of SPCA, an FIR was lodged against the guard at the Sector-20 police station.

“Rajan has used his bullets on the animal given to him to secure the premises of the company, he has used his gun with recklessness,” the FIR stated. According to police, the guard is yet to be arrested.
