Nokia and New India Assurance launch handset insurance plan

The insurance plans minimum premium is Rs 50 or 1.25 per cent of Nokia devices cost.

Nokia India has announced a partnership with New India Assurance to safeguard Nokias consumers against risks of mobile handset loss and damage. The insurance plans minimum premium is Rs 50 or 1.25 per cent of Nokia devices cost. The plan will be available March 14 onwards on all Nokia devices purchased through Nokia Branded Retail stores across the country,initially in Delhi and NCR,Jaipur,Mumbai,Ahmedabad,Pune,Kolkata,Chennai,Hyderabad,Bengaluru and Cochin.

Users will have to furnish proof of identity during the purchase.

The insurance will cover damage caused by dropping of the phone,accidental entry of fluid in the devices internal circuitry,deliberate damage by third party,theft and burglary,loss of device due to riots,strikes and other malicious acts. Theft of device from locked or unattended building,room or vehicle will also be covered.
