
The Delhi senior selection committee will be meeting on Wednesday to pick the probables for T20 and the Ranji Trophy for the 2009-10 domestic season and chairman Chetan Chauhan will have the company of Hari Gidwani, Nikhil Chopra and Mannu Nayyar to debate the future course of action.
Once again the big guns — Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant sharma, Ashish Nehra and Virat Kohli — will be missing most of the action owing to their international commitments and the selectors will have to make the difficult choice between inducting fresh talent vs experience. Fresh talent
Even though Delhi junior and league cricket have come under scathing criticism for the lack of transparency in the selection procedure, the state has inadvertently thrown up exciting faces.
Mohit Sharma: Seen as the next big-stage player from Delhi, the 18 year old has impressed with his sound temperament and his ability to build his innings into huge scores, scoring a triple century. Hit a half-century in the recent Corporate Trophy against star-studded Air India Blue.
Joginder Singh: One of the best players in Delhi one-day and T20 circuit for a while. The 29-year old caught the attention of Rahul Dravid and other international players with his clean-hitting sixes during the Corporate Trophy. Leading BSNL, Joginder got crucial wickets at decent pace with the new ball. Has been part of Delhi one-day camp consistently for the last five years without getting a look in.
