Day Three of the sesquicentennial celebrations at Bishop Cotton School saw a goodwill cricket match between the Cottonians and Aitchison College Lahore which the former won by a good eight wickets.
“It’s not about who eventually won the match. This was a symbolic gesture of extending a hand of friendship to our neighbours,” said Old Cottonian K C Anand, a member of the organising committee.
While handing over the trophy to the winning team, principal of Aitchison College Lahore announced that the college will host a similar friendly match for the Bishop Cotton boys in December.
The Lahore team, led by captain Rehman, won the toss and elected to bat. Ending with 99 runs, the Lahore team could not stand in the way of the Cottonians’ victory.
“The victory of the host team has emboldened us all to ensure that we win the next game —when we meet in Lahore,” said Rehman.
Aitchison College principal Faqir Sayeed Aijazuddin said: “The very fact that Bishop Cotton School has completed its 150th year shows that it has an unfading glory, which makes every Cottonian proud. We are taking back fond memories of our stay in the school campus, and its sesquicentennial celebrations.”
