Rahul Gandhi may have won praise among some for calling a spade a spade, but others aren’t as pleased. At a public meeting in Jaipur last week, he recalled his father’s famous line on how only 10 paise out of Re 1 spent on development reached the people. “Today we give Rs 10, but still only 10 paise reach the poor,” he said, adding that this was what he was trying to change. His partymen are wondering how this doesn’t put a question mark on the UPA Government’s own delivery system, particularly after its tall claims on schemes for the poor.
