While we are used to seeing Christmas trees with green branches, this one in the Capital is drenched in white. Keeping up with the festive cheer, the lobby of WelcomHotel Sheraton in Saket welcomes the visitors with a nine-feet white Christmas tree, made from shola wood brought all the way from West Bengal. The tree has been meticulously handcrafted by five artisans from Bengal, over the last three days. Shola is a milky white spongy plant, and its wood is traditionally used to make headgears of bride and groom for a Bengali wedding or to decorate idols. It is usually found in the marshy areas of Bengal, Orissa and Assam.
