After two schools came under the scanner for failing several students in Std IX, Bhavan's Hazarimal Somani College of Arts & Science in Chowpatty is now in the spotlight for failing nearly 289 students of Std XI from a class of over 520. According to a Government Resolution (GR) reissued this year, students of Std IX and XI have to get 25 per cent in theory to be eligible for grace marks. Since many complained that the circular had come late, the state recently directed schools and junior colleges to implement the GR from next year. Authorities from Bhavan's College said as soon as the the state announced its decision, the results of the 289 students were reviewed and subsequently another 134 students were passed.
