A helicopter service was launched on Wednesday between Delhi and Vrindavan with a view to boost religious tourism.
The one-way ticket to the holy city will cost Rs 3,900 per person, while the return fare has been fixed at Rs 7,000 per passenger. The helicopters, run by Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited, will be available from Terminal 1-D of the IGI Airport.
"Like the chopper facility for tourists to the holy places of Ayodhya, Varanasi, Vaishno Devi and Amar Nath, we have now started a helicopter service between Delhi and Vrindavan," Anil Kumar Srivastava, Chairman and MD of Pawan Hans, said.
District tourism officer, D K Sharma, said, "We expect that the service would pave the way for tapping of tourism potential of Brij Bhumi."
The latest route in the chopper service was inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh's son and Rashtriya Lok Dal MP from Mathura Jayant Chaudhary.
The expansion of the service to other pilgrim centres like Mathura would depend upon the response to this service, Srivastava said.
