Now,errors surface in IIT entrance test paper

Minor glitches appeared in this year’s IIT entrance examination after students reported that there were some confusions regarding the question paper,as the sequence of the questions and the answers numbers didn’t match with each other in the Objective Response Sheet (ORS) sheet.

In the question paper,chemistry was followed by mathematics and physics,while in the ORS sheet chemistry was followed by physics and mathematics.

According to the officials at IIT-Kharagpur,there was some misprint in the sub-heading on the answer-sheets that led to the confusion among students.

“In each examination centre our directive was clear to the students —— just answer according to the question number and not look at the sub heading in the answer sheets,” said Amarnath Samanta,the Chairman of IIT-JEE at IIT-Kharagpur.

“We were told that we have go on writing answers as per the question number in question paper,” said Poulastya Bhoumik,who took the entrance examination at St Xavier’s College.

Many students who first tried to solve mathematics and physics sections had to again mark their answers on the ORS sheet. The first set of questions had 87 questions from Chemistry,Mathematics and Physics and the problem occurred in that section only . The second set of question had 57 questions from same subjects. The duration of each of the examination was three hours.

While about 4,72,000 students appeared in examinations throughout the country. In the Kharagpur Zone ( zone under IIT Khragpur) about 60,834 students appeared in the examination from states like West Bengal,Orissa,Chattishgarh,Tripura,Sikkim,Andhra Pradesh,
